As the Leader of learning for KS4 and KS5, I am extremely proud of both our students and the staff in the development of our new department! KS4 and KS5 have joined forces this academic year to share and build upon our strengths, making the transition from KS4 to KS5 as smooth and as effective as possible, to achieve the best outcomes for all of our young people.
Our students have eased into working with their peers from all three classes, for Maths, English, Project afternoon and SMSC lessons. They have coped brilliantly with the positive new changes that have been put into place, and the differences in their usual school routine. Our department is full of growing, developing and maturing young adults, and we have all been very impressed with their attitude to learning and to each other in this new academic year.
We have lots of exciting things in store for our new department, such as developing our indoor and outdoor learning environments and including the pupils and community with this venture. All pupils will be taking part in a form of work experience this year, which we are truly excited about. Several of our pupils have already started taking part in a one week block placement at Coppice School Shop in Thorne, and the support assistants working with them have given them tremendous feedback at this early stage.
We will continue to keep you up to date with all of the things that make us proud to be a part of the KS4 and 5 team!
